This post is subjected to chinese Singaporean's knowledge of their chinese cultures. ( no offence in any racial way)
Went to watch red cliff two yesterday at bugis. There is something i really cannot tolerate, when people laugh at the wrong moments due to their ignorance. There was this scene where everyone gave tony leung a glutinous ball , as a form of blessing and hopes that his wife is safe, and everyone laughed. He ate all the balls in one mouthful and everyone laughed again. That was supposed to be the saddest part in the whole movie and people just laugh it off? WTH. Spoiled the whole atmosphere. I am sure that if i watched this in China, no one will laugh. But i must say some scenes in the movie is really funny. But not that one....
I can still remember a few years back where i caught a movie " Heros" in China. Then i found it nice and came back to SG to watch it again. The huge difference in between the people's mindset is clear. Sg people thought it was a comedy, China people thought it as a sad story in China's history.
So , if im going to watch anymore chinese movies with historic background, im going to China to watch it. Maybe buy a vcd to watch at home, so much better than having people laughing at sad scenes.
Btw, Tony Leung looked like Obama in that movie.

Its actually a great movie though.
